¡CIMA! January 15, 2010

And thus ends our time in Buenos Aires. I must say, it has been a very interesting experience. I hailed my first taxi today! That was exhilerating – oh, the power :) I also had my first glass of wine… All in all, I have learned not to look both ways when crossing the street (you´ll never cross), stay close to Jeff or get left, and that when visiting a new country, you should never pack a check-in bag  – that is, if you like to shop ;)

The Buenos Aires region contains approximately 12 million souls. There are people EVERWHERE you go, no matter how late. Apparently, they must have different sleep needs because  – despite the fact that most people arise around the same time (8:00AM – 9:00AM), they stay up much later (most don´t even eat dinner until aroun 9:00PM).

Yesterday, we visited Montevideo, Uruguay. At first, I was appalled by the atrocious prices (200 – 1000 pesos!), but, once I realized the exchange rate was 20:1, my shopping bags were quickly filled. ;)

I´m really excited for the next portion of our trip. We´re taking our plane in a few to begin our orientation – or something like it – at the conference. Hopefully, the practice I´ve had with my Spanish will be enough for me to get by, but we´ll see. Pray that we would trust God to give us the vitality, alacrity, and willingness to serve him in whatever way is neccessary. I know this conference is going to open all of our eyes to the importance and power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  I want to return changed.

For all of you who read this, thank you for your prayers and support. I know that things could not have gone so smoothly without them. Continue to pray for us with vigor!

All the best,

Ariel

Tango Lesson January 13, 2010

Hola World!!!!!

It is 2:19 am in the morning. I am in the Lobby of SOCO Buenos Aires…Which is amazing by the way. My peers…..TK, GARRET, AND JENNY( Yes, from the Block! ) are dancing in the middle of the floor. It really is amaizing. Tk is telling Garrett that he is a good lead. There is only one male available at this time in the morning so Garrett is like BIG MAN ON CAMPUS….hA. Ah. The power. ‘

We have to be up in three hours to prepare for out Boat trip to Uruguay tomorrow. So …To bed we head. Tango is officially done. …FOR NOW. …STAY TUNED.

Myika:-)

HA. I like how that ended. Ha. Not really. I think I’m delirious. Ha. …

Buenos Noches WORLD-O!!!!!

Recap of Yesterday and Prayer Requests January 13, 2010

Filed under: Tk Fu — teamcima @ 5:43 am

Hi friends! Yesterday afternoon after we got off the plane, went to the hotel, and unpacked, we had lunch at the local mall that contains the only Kosher McDonalds outside of Israel. Jeff then took us on a whirlwind tour of downtown Buenos Aires. Those who pray for our head pastor pray well, because none of us seem to be able to keep up with him while he is going half his normal pace! We then had dinner at a great pizza place, came back to the hotel, and most called it a night. Jenny, Garrett, and I went to watch some tango dancing though =)

Please pray that we can keep up with Jeff today(!) and that God would speak to each one of our hearts as we tour more of Buenos Aires. Those on our team are: Jeff Adams, Emily Kinch, Jeanne Meloy, Garrett Ogle, Ryan Upton, Ariel Green, Myika Williams, Melenia Gibson, Jenny Schell, and myself (Tk Fu). Also, please pray that I or another person from our team would have the opportunity to share the Gospel with a man named Sergio. He is the night guy at SOCO Buenos Aires, the hotel that we are staying at. He made Jenny, Garrett, Emily, and I our first communal experience with mate (more on that later!), and God has placed him on my heart.

Emily Kinch had the brilliant idea of setting up a blog for our team.  Right now, we are laid over in Houston, waiting to board our overnight flight to Buenos Aires.  A big thanks to all the family and friends that saw us off!
